Autumn School on Soft and Flexible Surgical Robotics 2015

Meeting in SiegenThe Stiff-Flop Autumn School 2015 has been conducted in Torino November 9th – 13th. The event was designed to bring researchers, scientists, physicians and PhD students in the field of surgical robotics together to move forward in the arena of surgical robotics.

Within the STIFF-FLOP autumn school new technologies were introduced and discussed. International renowned experts gave an overview about the following topics:

  • Development of large-scale robot skin
  • Development and Integration of innovative sensors for flexible robots
  • Hybrid image guided minimally invasive surgery
  • Control strategies for flexible and soft robots
  • Vision based robot control
  • Modeling and simulation / visualization
  • RoNeX for Matlab
  • Haptic Feedback during MIS (surgi-cal requirements and technical so-lutions)
  • Soft tissue robotic surgery
  • Applications for soft and flexible robots
  • Challenges for the development of new technologies
  • Future Trends in soft robot surgical systems

Sessions demonstrating the latest achievements of the STIFF-FLOP project were held. The participants got the chance to test the newest technological advancements in a “hands on” session at Ospedale Molinette.
